Simple Guitar Song – Learn to Play Mr. Tambourine Man in Minutes

You will be amazed once your start feeling comfortable with guitar chords which songs turn out to be simple guitar songs. One might expect to have to start with playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, or 3 Blind Mice, but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, when it comes to learning a simple guitar song, you will find some of the best songs are actually some of the simplest. Bob Dylan’s Mr. Tambourine man for instance is something that you can quite literally learn how to play in a matter of minutes. Only 4 chords are required and they are very easy to learn; D, G, Em, and A.

Practice your finger placements and moving between the chords until it comes naturally to you in a swift movement, and then start strumming remembering to pay attention to the dead strings of course. Practice shifting between the chords while strumming and setting yourself different rhythms. This should only take a few minutes, and then you will be ready to move onto the song itself.

Verse 2
Take me on a trip upon your magic swirling ship
My senses have been stripped
My hands can’t feel to grip
My toes too numb to step
Wait only for my bootheels to be wandering
I’m ready to go anywhere, I’m ready for to fade
Into my own parade
Cast your dancing spell my way, I promise to go under it…CHORUS
Verse 3
Though you might hear laughing, spinning, swinging madly across the sun
It’s not aimed at anyone
It’s just escaping on the run
And but for the sky there are no fences facing
And if you hear vague traces of skipping reels of rhyme
To your tambourine in time
It’s just a ragged clown behind
I wouldn’t pay it any mind
It’s just a shadow you’re seeing that he’s chasing …CHORUS
The chords for all the verses are the same, so simply keep an eye on verse one to know what to do in the other verses.
And there you have it – an excellent song has been learned, and played in just a few minutes. This amazing feat was accomplished using the 4 simple chords that you now know.

Cat Baas :
I can easily play the chorus and first verse. The other verses get murky, since there are more words. My little “off key beginning jam group” is struggling with this. Is there somewhere where we can get the chords on the verses…”Take me on a trip…”; “Though you might hear…”; “Then take me dissapearin’”?
Any help would be more than appreciated!

I learned the chords and i learned to strum them but it fails to produce a coherent melody, partially because you haven’t written any strum patterns. I just strum d-u strums and it literally sounds shit. Also it would of help if you place the chords in the rest of the verses too, since it is hard – as a beginner to know where the chord changed should occur in the rest of the versus that lack chord directions.
