jeffrodemando :
Ben, you give your awesome geetar knowledge to eager learners with little expectations in return (other than continuing to spread love of music?)..
Your the man.
DolittleMccoy :
Man, I’d give anything if i could pick a guitar or actually play one decent. Its so freakin hard to do and do well.
GrantHarris24 :
To clarify… the right hand doesn’t hit the right strings when I get to going. i’m not accurate
GrantHarris24 :
What’s up ben? Dreary day in East TX. Sitting here comparing this with a DVD i have of Tony Rice from back in the 80′s I think. I’ve got this down, but I can’t get up to your pace. My fingers are fine, but it seems like my right hand can’t keep up with my left anymore. Do you have any tips on right hand speed? Thanks!!
DWhitson12 :
I just recently came across your videos. Thank you very much man your videos have been a huge help in getting over the wall I hit a while back. I really like how you slow it down for everybody instead of just blazing through it and saying thats how you do it. Thanks again Banjo Ben!
clregen :
Gold Rush sounds great. You play it very well! Very clean!
winkl777 :
@TheHomunkoloss
yes it’s four
MrGitpicker :
I`ve been following your vids for quite some time on You tube and just wanted to say thanks for the great lessons/vids!!
inky960 :
Ben, I *love* the ending licks — and the whole arrangement, actually. You play SO clean, you inspire me to always listen closely, at slow, slow tempos, to what I’m actually playing – and to record and listen back. Your guitar sounds great — and I’ve asked before, but maybe you didn’t see: I have a Taylor 614, too, but have never flatpicked on it. Do you put medium gauge strings on yours? Just curious.
LucaSchiavon :
Man I like your style, good tecnique!!!
dwarf2 :
this is another old time fiddle tune and i dont believe monroe wrote it either good fiddle tune.
Derpistanian :
That guit’ of yours has a fairly nice ring to er’. Solid video and great lesson.
inky960 :
Ben! I have a big interest in right-hand technique. I like yours a lot. Here, you’re not resting (posting) any fingers or wrist, so your pivot point is where your arm touches the guitar. I play this way, too, now. Jazz players say this is ultimately the most powerful and fastest way (lots of disagreement, I know!) You appear to be playing mostly with your arm, not so much wrist, as most bluegrassers do. Did you develop this consciously, or is it just natural to you?
Thanks, bud!
tasilbhurn :
you got a capo on 2nd there?
BanjoBen1 :
@odingr Yes it is! You’re welcome!
odingr :
this is alternate picking?? bluegrass guitar is with alternate picking? thanxs in advance
LoveBluegrass1 :
I’m new to YouTube and don’t know if this will get posted where you can see it. Would you consider making a video of some of Doc Watson and the Dawg’s songs. I would like your version of Florida Blues, Watson Blues, All About You, Bluegrass Stomp and the Kentucky Waltz.
lukeman3000 :
Hey man, awesome playing. Could you watch the attached video and perhaps offer some tips? I’ve been flatpicking for awhile, but I have a problem with hitting strings I don’t mean to occasionally. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.. thanks.
getchizzled :
too fast dude

bmalle12513 :
i loved that song.
BanjoBen1 :
Yep! Some may call it cut time, but it’s essentially the same thing!
TheHomunkoloss :
hey could anyone tell me..is it 4/4 meter?
i’m not sure, i got always problems with that xD
thanx
btw great playin
BanjoBen1 :
Well, I’ve heard that argument. There’s nothing wrong with being a purist, as long as you’re not a hostile purist
I’m a purist in a lot of things, but I do like the minor chord in this tune. Thanks for watching!
clarksonbanjopicker :
Great pickin! I find it interesting that your version has an obvious E minor in the B part. Some purists around here swear that it shouldn’t have that chord in the song, but I don’t think it sounds complete without it.
mandohaga :
great video like to see more mandolin lessons
