i find it easier to use my ring finger to make the E and Am shapes while barreing…. doubt it has the same sound but im brand new to barre chords so it sounds pretty beefy to me…

@oiejaune & D Barre Chord: Try using your pinkie where Marty uses his ring finger. I find it much easier, also fit it’s easier to open the high E string when you need to.

teach it to the beginners with the capo on the second fret.That way you only have one barre chord

@Jellogel It’s because he makes it easy to get going QUICKLY and making actual music. It’s because he’s giving you a foundation from which to launch from. It’s because he’s always dropping little “theory” bombs on you when you don’t even know it, but trust me, when you least expect it, you remember a little thing he said and it starts to click and you have a guitar epiphany. Wade around YouTube a bit at alot of the vids that say “lesson or tutorial”. I learn 10-fold from Marty in only one vid.

I’m sure you here this all the time, but I must give my sentiments as well. You don’t know how much you’ve helped me get up to speed. I tried to learn guitar when I was 20 and dint, I tried again when 30; dint. Now I’m 43 and FINALLY I’m sticking to it because I found your site, and LOVIN it!! This tute is one of those where you say “It’s good to get those barre chords started as soon as possible”, and it IS everyone. Soon you find it’s a motor memory thing just like open. Tanks man

yea it sucks at first no doubt….but seriously after doing it a little each day, and even if you have to put every finger in the right place with your other hand at first, it gets so much easier and soon you’ll be wondering why you ever thought it was bad….just about 2 months playing myself, and its getting a lot more comfortable. good luck
