KING CRIMSON – EPITAPH
This title is taken from King Crimson´s album, ” In the Court of the Crimson King” (1969 / England) King Crimson is an English rock band, founded in 1969 by guitarist Robert Fripp and drummer Michael Giles. en.wikipedia.org Official Website: www.king-crimson.com Robert Fripp – guitar Greg Lake – bass guitar, vocals Ian McDonald – keyboards, mellotron, reeds and woodwind, vibraphone, vocals Michael Giles – drums, percussion, vocals Peter Sinfield – lyrics, illumination Barry Godber – painted the album cover Epitaph: (Fripp, McDonald, Lake, Giles, Sinfield) The wall on which the prophets wrote Is cracking at the seams. Upon the instruments of death The sunlight brightly gleams. When every man is torn apart With nightmares and with dreams, Will no one lay the laurel wreath When silence drowns the screams. Confusion will be my epitaph. As I crawl a cracked and broken path If we make it we can all sit back And laugh. But I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying, Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying. Between the iron gates of fate, The seeds of time were sown, And watered by the deeds of those Who know and who are known; Knowledge is a deadly friend When no one sets the rules. The fate of all mankind I see Is in the hands of fools. Confusion will be my epitaph. As I crawl a cracked and broken path If we make it we can all sit back And laugh. But I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying, Yes I fear tomorrow I’ll be crying.

Where you can hear a country song song from far and someone plays the honky-tonk guitar Where all the lights will go out one by one the people join the sun and the wind takes it away Where the Mississippi falls down to the sea and lovers found the place thhhey’d like to be how many times before the song was ending love and understanding everywhere around Mississippi, I’ll remember you whenever I should go away I’ll be longing for the day that I will be returning again Mississippi, you’ll be on my mind everytime I hear this song Mississippi roll along until the end of time Now the country song for ever lost its soul when the guitar player turned to rock & roll and everytime when the summernights are falling I will always be calling dreams of yesterday

@MrEzraP It’s a good message but I feel like you couldn’t find much “pure music” outside of a university-type setting.

@zebula8 I agree 100% – Greg Lake has an incredible voice – he really helped to give King Crimson their identity with his vocals. A must underrated vocalist and bassist/guitarist.
wixiteam :

41 yrs have passed since the first time I heard this album, and it still brings tears to my eyes and soul remembering the carefree days of my youth, many miles down the road and this one tune in particular raises the hair on the back of my neck. These men were one of the first bands i heard and this will be the last thing I hear…. Ride Free….
DENONCIATOR :
great song !!
chriskar5 :
@MrEzraP Absolutely no offence taken.Thank you for a compliment on a butterfly. I love a nice discussion and a fact of me not liking rap.. well it is just my taste. My grandma liked only a few of Beatles songs.I used to play piano for her with her favourites like “Sorrento” and “LaPaloma”.All my family has a very open mind for all kinds of music , but as far as I know only a few enjoy rap.American music stream had hundreds of wonderful underground bands-still does .They never made it big.Too bad!
chriskar5 :
@16randomletters Everyone is entitled to he/hers opinion. You like rap better , so don’t poising your ears with King Crimson. Go to your kind of music and enjoy it. That’s what I do. Music is music. The only thing that you have to remember is that rap is not a music, but Encyclopedia Britanica can be helpful here. Rap may be a style of expression , or some kind of deviant art ,but it surely is not a music. And then again it is only my opinion.

@MrEzraP How terrible this machine we have devised. The Promoters and Producers have become to proliferators and pupett masters. Our lawyers have become journalists and everything we see, hear, and read in commonplace media is manufactured. Talent? Who needs that-you just need the “right” connections. I Talk to the Wind
MrEzraP :
@chriskar5 I watched your butterfly video. Love the piano, love the story even more. Did you write that yourself? The music industry is struggling right now but someday soon it could blossom tenfold just like a butterfly after it struggles in the cocoon. I’m sorry I offended your fandom for King Crimson. I was just making a point that music is still being written and written well. Our professor never attacked the rapper for rapping. He accepted it for what it was andtried his best to understand

@chriskar5 rap is better than this

Great video to an awesome song. THANK YOU!
chriskar5 :
@MrEzraP I am sorry , but rap is NOT a music. It is a cultural nonsense and by no means does it belong in a same bag with a REAL music. You are a bit confused here. Music , just like all other art has expression , not a promotion of anything. The REAL ART is a creation , not a promotion. They should have tought that on songwriting class. Please , be so kind and do not compare something like King Crimson with rap. They belong in a different places and I wait for rap to eventualy die….and it will.
Nisadima :

@jasonmark55 No , you’re just realising that good melody , gentle rythyms, are far superior to rap, rock, and alll the other mindless sewage of today

Love the song, love the voice. I usually run away from the sound of anything remotely like country music. However I made the mistake of playing this song and now its on my mind , when I sleep at night and immediately when I wake in the mornings…Am I going mad?
