This is the method you will want to use when playing along with other musicians or recorded music. Then Russ will show you how to tune your bass using harmonics. This method of tuning comes in handy when you’re practicing by yourself and don’t have access to a tuner.

A Diminished chord in G would be the notes G, E, A#, C#. You can use one, one halfstep below the chord you want to resolve to. So you could play a D7 then to an F#dim then to Gmaj7

@Procen44 with diminished there’s an interval of 1 1/2 steps between the root and 3rd, and between the 3rd and the 5th. in major chords,there’s 2 whole steps between the root and 3rd and then 1 1/2 between the 3rd and 5th, and in minor chords 1 1/2 steps between the root and 3rd and 2 steps between the 3rd and 5th. with the major scales formula being 1, 1, 1/2, 1, 1, 1, 1/2, the 1st, 4th and 5th are always major, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th are always minor, and 7th is always diminished. hope this helps

I like to know more about why a chord is diminished. Is it when you flat the 5th of a major chord to create a diminished? I heard that if you took the 5 of a Gmajor, which is D and made it Db you would create a G diminished. I also want to understand the same for 7ths. Other than that I’m fine. Can you help me out with that please?
