How Guitar Hero was MEANT to be played (Rush – YYZ on Expert)

Proof I am awesome at real guitar: www.youtube.com The fretboard is done by recording the video feed simultaneously with another camera, and laying it on top with Adobe After Effects. Much respect to Roadies Josh Goldsmith and Brandon Laatsch, concert videographer Kevin Klauber, and of course Daniel Johnson.

Best lap steel playing I’ve heard (and one of the coolest bands) is here:

daphneblueband

I think the lap steel player is called Freddy Roulette

Nothing else on youtube comes close. Nothing.

MichaelHansenFUN :

i guess you need a flat neck, not curved

kotaboner42 :

this little melody he’s playing reminds me of the tribute song that Jerry Douglas played on a live CD

123michaeln :

how much does that ben harper series ll modle cost??

TheBgbrush :

so is a 10 string and 6 string steel guitar similar enough to be able to be able to pick up both and play either one?…or is it like learning a whole new instrument. i am considering buying one but i dont know if i should get a 6 ,8, 10, or even 12 string steel guitar. if i learned to play one could i naturally pick up another and play?

bigjimpitz :

@asherguitars What a haunting, mesmorizing, fantastic sound!!!

Masterrese :

I’m about to build one myself, it seems the neck is damn near 8/4, is the body just as thick?

benjamminbond778899 :

You rock man! This is great, my friend just loaned me his lap steel tonight so I can see if I can play it. I wanna build one eventually, and eventually play like you do!

blakeandcrap :

deucheabledanish :

@oa457member The lap steel is a bit more challenging then standard guitar because it is fretless. To play with proper intonation takes a good ear and practice.
Bob Brozman has a great DVD out that teaches this style.
My hand-made lap steels are expensive and worth it, they start at $2400. Four years ago I designed an import model that is a great entry level lap steel for $750. It’s a fine quality and many pro players use it. Check my web site for the Electro-Hawaiian Junior model.

asherguitars :

@Rorre65 Check out the new Ben Harper signature model or if on a budget for your first lap steel check try my Electro-Hawaiian Junior models. -Bill Asher

asherguitars :

@CragarPimp Sorry I did not reply sooner, and sure you may. I would like to hear what you record with it when done. email me through my web site. -Bill

oa457member :

uhm ive got a couple questions first is this instrument hard to learn and play and secondly how much would it cost me to buy one.
