Guitar Lessons Online: About Strumming

Guitar Lessons Online: About Strumming

Strumming is a guitar playing technique that every guitar player should master. Even those who learned and play mostly by reading music notes, should learn to play by strumming, and play it very well.

That way, they will certainly add richness and variety to the song or piece they play. Further more, they will surely come to a time when they are required to strum the chords of a song or melody that others are singing or playing.

The most important thing to take into account when learning and playing guitar strumming, is sound quality. Strumming is not just some noise made while others are singing or playing. It is music too!

You must focus all your efforts on getting the most clean, neat and musical sound out of your guitar.

You strum a guitar strings by stroking all or several strings in a single downward or upward right hand movement.

Sometimes you strum all six strings with a single quick movement. Sometimes you just strum the bass strings, and sometimes you strum only the treble ones.

Some guitar players, when strumming downwards, like to use the nail of the middle finder; others like to use the nails of all fingers (except the thumb). Generally, they also prefer to do upward strumming using the nail of their thumb finger.

But there are many players that like the sounds obtained when strings are plucked or strummed using the fingertips (fleshy part of the finger end).

The best form (and that used by most pros), is a combination of both forms, nails and fingertips, combining them in upward and downward strokes, on all six strings or bass or treble strings only.

Besides, not all strokes are played with the same strength (intensity). Some of them are accented (played louder) than others.

This way, you can achieve very colourful and rich guitar strumming patterns.

A strumming pattern is a repeated sequence of upward and downward strokes, each one of them with its own characteristics (nail of fingertip, upward or downward, accented or not).

You can learn guitar strumming patterns yourself by reading and practicing guitar lessons and books. In that case you must listen very carefully to recordings of music with some guitar strumming showing up. You will certainly learn a lot, too, watching videos about guitar strumming. Go to YouTube, do a search, and you will find a lot of them.

Remember, quality of sound is your goal.

Iron Man – Black Sabbath (Guitar Cover with solo)

When I was a boy, I was very much into a guitar. After four and half a year, I quit playing a guitar completely. Since then, 34 years have passed. This year I picked up a guitar again just because my son wants to learn a guitar. After 34 years of non playing, I found it hard just to play even a simple chord. I started to practice just as an absolute beginner. This is the first song that my son wants to play. So I decided to learn it myself first. I constantly went off the beat, picked wrong strings etc. I just have to keep on practicing. * * * ** “Iron Man” was released by Black Sabbath from their second studio album Paranoid in 1970 * * * * * Gears: PRS SE Singlecut Korg Pandora PX5D Garageband iMovie Macbook Pro * * * * ** * * * ** * * * ** * * * ** * * * ** * * * ** * * * ** * * * * THE USE OF ANY COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL IS USED UNDER THE GUIDELINES OF “FAIR USE” IN TITLE 17 § 107 OF THE UNITED STATES CODE. Everybody I meet seems to either play Guitar, have played when they were younger or want to play. So here is ten reasons why everyone should learn the Guitar, regardless of size, color, age or skill level!

1. Everyone Likes a Guitarist!

It’s true, there’s just something about it, everyone likes a guitarist! Don’t just be another average person, be ‘The Guitarist’.

2. You Can Make Money!

It’s not hard, even if you only know a few chords and can only chuck a couple of songs together I bet if you go out on the street (Check with local laws first) and open up your guitar case and start playing you will get some money. Some make their living off this, I myself from personal experience have earned up to an hour and have heard of much higher amounts.

3. There’s Always a Guitar Around!

You know exactly what I mean, whether you’re at a party, around for dinner at a friends house or at the Pub there always seems to be a Guitar around. What a great skill to be able to pick up any guitar and impress people around you, who knows, you may even get a free drink!

4. You Could Become a RockStar!

Honestly, can you tell me a single person alive on this earth who would not want to be a RockStar for a day (I’m talking about a sane people here!), don’t think you’ll find one. Everyone has that dream and it is very possible if you become any good at Guitar!

5. No more need for expensive lessons!

The days of paying up to for a half hour lesson are over, these days you can pay for a whole course that will teach you everything you need to know for the price of just one normal lesson. A lot of people today learn the Guitar without paying a single cent on lessons!

6. You can play your music to people all over the world!

No matter if you are an Eddie Van Halen in the making or a complete starter, you can post a video up on Youtube of yourself playing, set up a myspace page and even sell your music in iTunes to people all over the world with ease. Thanks to the internet you know have this freedom!

7. Make Yourself Smarter!

Instead of sitting in front of a box all day, actually get your mind working on things, learn a song, keep your brain active and it will stay active for you! The more songs you learn the easier they become to learn.

8. Release your most deep and darkest thoughts!

Once you know a few chords, you have everything you need to write a song, writing songs and poetry is a great way to get how you feel down on paper. Some people find it helps a lot with stress levels and some people just like to write!

9. Get Active in your Community!

Nothing is better for musicians than to play with other musicians, take a walk down to your local music store and put up a sign with the styles you play and put your phone number. You’ll be amazed by how many local people who will to keen as mustard to come jam their favorite songs with you. Do it! It’s a great way to meet new people.

10. Start a Band!

If you play Guitar, you can start a band. Nothing is better than the feeling you get when you are on stage. So stop dreaming and get together with some local musicians and start jamming out your favorite songs then start making your way to writing your own original material.

The Secrets to Guitar Greatness

The Secrets to Guitar Greatness

When someone talks about Guitar Greatness, what do they really mean? Do they mean the ability to play any song instantly after hearing it, having incredible technique or being a superb composer?

The real answer is none of these, because people seem to think that having the ‘abilities’ I talk about above instantly makes them a great guitar player. The real secret to ‘Guitar Greatness’ is attitude while you are playing, having your own signature style and putting that, your personal guitar style, into everything you play, even covers.

I was recently watching a video of the late Stevie Ray Vaughn. He was playing a cover of the Jimmi Hendrix classic ‘Voodoo Child’. Even though Stevie could have just played the song the exact same way that Jimi Hendrix played it, he made it different by adding his own signature guitar style into the song.

How did he do that? By just letting it come to him. If you haven’t been playing guitar for a long period of time you may find this hard to grasp onto, but when you have really achieved ‘Guitar Greatness’, you should be able to sit down with any musician, start jamming and pour your emotions out through your playing.

That’s exactly what Stevie Ray Vaughn did, and that is why he was and is so famous and called a legend.
People think that the guitar is an instrument that anyone can master, but it takes someone with a mixture of determination, musical sense, perseverance and roughness. If you don’t have those qualities the good news is that you can create them. You create these by simply playing your guitar as much as possible, creating your own sound while also learning the styles of the greats that played before you.

One more crucial aspect of achieving ‘Guitar Greatness’ is having respect for any style, you don’t have to like it, but you have to respect anything that is played on the guitar, no matter if it is Flamenco, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Metal whatever. The secret is that you do not have to have incredible technique to master the guitar, Hendrix didn’t, but he made up for it with attitude!

Good luck finding your own signature guitar style.

What Are Some Tips on How To Play Guitar Really Fast

What Are Some Tips on How To Play Guitar Really Fast

Do you require to understand how to play guitar really fast? You have to be aware of that you’ll find no secret plans or tactics to perform it. Sorry to say but there’s no magic tricks here.

You need to have strong talent in the basics and fundamentals of guitar-playing. It is a fact that guitar players are often measured and judged by how immediately their fingers fly on the guitar fret board. You are a better guitar player in case your fingers move and fly faster. That is the rule. However, it isn’t only quickness that is the measuring factor. The sound coming from your guitar need to be as excellent as your speed. If you produce noise instead of music, what’s the use of your rapidly guitar-playing speed? The point here is that you can learn to play the guitar really fast. Just be sure that you don’t sacrifice the overall sound and the music of the song you’re playing or accompanying.

You will find some strategies here on how to play guitar really fast.

First, note how you hold and steer a guitar. You have to hold your guitar in a method that allows your fingers to move easily and freely on the fret board. If you require to learn how to play guitar really fast, this is really a must. Do not wrap your hand around the neck of the guitar. It is usually a general mistake that beginners do. The sooner you correct it, the quicker your learning process will be. The exact method of gripping a guitar is to position your fingers in a method that the thumb is close to the middle of the radius of the guitar neck. Your fingers need to be able to move easier because they come straight towards the fret board instead of coming at a rather odd angle. Placement of fingers are very significant because transitioning from chord to chord or fret to fret will be harder and takes more precious time if you position them wrongly. You can play guitar rapidly when you are positioning your fingers in the correct manner.

Second, hold the guitar pick in the suitable angle in relation to the guitar strings. There is a purpose why picks are triangular in figure. So hold it at an angle towards the strings. This is necessary as it will slow you down and inhibit your ability to play the guitar rapidly when you hold it in incorrect angle to the strings.

Third, always practice, practice and practice. If you really want to learn how to play guitar really fast, it is the best tool you’ve. You must have a schedule of regularly picking up the guitar and strumming or plucking it. Do it as regularly as you have available. Also, remember to make use of all the available guitar resources around you. Pick up a guitar magazine or book. Download guitar videos from the Global internet. Or effortlessly see the best guitarists in the world on DVD. Watch and learn. If you do all of these, it’s just a matter of time before you find yourself playing the guitar in whatever speed you require.

Learning guitar is not as daunting as it seems, provided you have the right tools. Therefore, it is always wise to invest in the <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://bestonlineguitarinstruction.com/best-rated-guitar-lessonsbest-guitar-courses/”>best rated guitar lessons</a>.
