i love watching all these old videos. it reminds me of how unique this band was

Sevilea :

As far as I’m concerned, when my mother taught me doggerel of one form or another, she was simply filling the space that nowadays gets filled with TV adverts and pop songs. She taught me utter rubbish, like:

Supposing supposing,
The park gates were closing,
And you’d got your nose in,
Supposing, supposing.

And she would smile every time me or my brother or sister came out with that.

rekrings :

to all the luky souls who saw this live I’m so green with envy the closest I came was taking a tab of acid and watching a midnight showing of The Wall movie

Sim2428 :

ilmara1606 :

if you don’t cry during this video…it means that your heart is made of stone and that you shouldn’t try to understand art ’cause it’d be such a big waste of time…

sarrdine1 :

@AndreGuacamole me too it was the best concert i´ve ever seen with the plane crashing into the wall and everything else, just the best. Epic isn’t enough to describe it.

AndreGuacamole :

I’ve just arrived home from a Roger Waters concer in Lisbon. And I don’t have the words to describe how epic and intimate and beautiful it was… just sublime

DatingGameKiller :

Thinking about my mom today. RIP, ma. 3-7-1927 to 3-21-2006. Love ya.

@tjrtherocksponge Yeah, that was certainly quite the experience. It has changed my experience of going to concerts, and listening to music, forever.

lindseywagners :

@tjrtherocksponge: “I am done with concerts now since I’ve seen The Wall, where do you go from there?”

I think this applies to a lot of things in life. And I think that when you realize this with too many of them, you end up in a state like Pink, asking the question tjrtherocksponge posed. I fear the only thing left at that point is death.

tjrtherocksponge :

@872463051 NO FUCKING WAY! The crowd booed then cheered when it said NO FUCKING WAY. I am done with concerts now since I’ve seen The Wall, where do you go from there?

rockinroyle :

The beautiful simplicity of the song would indicate that it is about a mother and anyones mother who loved and nurtured them and tried to protect them from evils and injustices of the world. this could be anybody’s mother and it is. A touching homage to all the mothers in the world who loved their children. There are plenty of Floyd songs to dissect to try and find hidden meanings. In my opinion no over-analyzation is necessary.

lindseywagners :

Does anyone know other versions of “Mother” that have alternate lines? For example, the Wall movie has ‘Mother am I really dying?’ instead of ‘Is it just a waste of time.’ Any others you know of?

gramoukdoom :

DAVID – ROGER – UNITE PLEASE !!!!!!

872463051 :

@nonostaystraight Yeah, I saw Roger Waters’ The Wall tour last year, and at that line, the audience erupted in screaming. It was great

Navier35 :
