Guitar101Ramstein :
just the strings my fingers are holding down on the fretboard… so two adjacent strings at a time. For a straight forward, fretted power chord, I am not using open strings at all.
bkhunter84 :
Do you play all 6 strings when you are playing or what open strings are you playing

Wickid!!! Thanks Man! I know what you mean now!! Sounds way better. Keep up the videos man. They are really helpful for rookies like me! When I finally ace these lessons I would like to try a couple more difficult power chord techniques. Thanks again Ram
Guitar101Ramstein :
no, over the actual FRET WIRE not, you will hear a ring from what is called a “harmonic”… these are cool but you want to avoid them for muting strings… experiment it, move where your finger is resting over the metal fret wier and off of it on different spots (mainly 5 y and 12 frets) and you will see what I mean.
valleygeetar :
Good video Ramstein. I’m just starting to learn power chords on acoustic. i have 1 question for ya. When you mentioned muting the high strings you said to lightly hold your index over the fret. Do you mean hold your index over the end of the fret not on the actual fret? because when i play it i’m still getting a huge ring out of the high strings. It sounds the same as if I am barring the fret. Anyways thanx for the vid. its really helpful..if you can just post a comment back on here.
