Great stuff Greg, bought that album when it came out on vinyl and Greg was playing the Strat with dual showmans, the amps. I have had 2 DiMarzio pick ups in a 70s Les Paul since the late 70s! Both in cream, one is a Super Distortion model and the other is a PAF i think. They are still good rockin pickups! i have late 50s Les Paul with the old original Gibson PAFs these are still best to my ears ! But still enjoy the DiMarzio pick ups they give me a different flavour!

I dropped a Super Distortion in my Strat back in 1983 and haven’t looked back. It still kicks butt.

@Ibik Hi, I did all the early models, Super Distortion, P Bass, PAF etc. Steve Blucher does most of the pickup design work now but I still over see everything. Now, I designed all the cables, straps, advertising, videos and the DiMarzio website. Steve started working with me over 30 years ago and he is really good.

One question: If i had a swamp ash body guitar with a maple neck and f-board and threw in a couple of dimarzio Breed humbuckers in there…would I get Greg howe’s tone or atleast close to it?

I don’t think the Super Distortion is similar to Bill’s SG humbuckers from the late 80s. The Super has always been a popular pickup for LPs, one reason being that it isn’t shrill.

Hey Larry was that Gregs amp or was that one that just was in the Studio? Stiletto is a killer amp, just wondering if Greg was using them now. I used to take lessons from Greg at his house back in the early 90′s and he was using old Fenders then. I’m glad people are finally realizing how amazing this guy is. Really nice guy too. Cool video!

hey larry. this laguna is pretty close to youre 59 lp. lol just kidding, i really wanted to know if{well you remember bill lawrence gibson em[ployee 88 to 90 and he put some high output pups in sgs and such and was wondering if youre super distoryions are similiar or what would you recommend in a lp in the 13k range but not shrill?
