When you first decide that you want to learn to play guitar, things can be a bit confusing. You’re filled with all this anticipation, but most people don’t even know where to start. And that can be very hindering. Well the very first thing you need is a guitar. Yup, before you can understand guitar you actually need to have a guitar.

plenty of people actually question what a good beginner guitar is. My answer is that there is no true beginner guitar. Though, I do have some advice for why I think that beginners should get a certain kind of guitar. Personally I think its good to learn guitar on a pretty low-grade guitar. The reason is  if you learn on a cheap guitar then, not merely will you appreciate the more expensive guitars more, but you will also feel the distinction when you upgrade, and perhaps realize that more luxurious doesn’t  essentially mean better.

Also Its simpler for a beginner to learn to play guitar on either a classical nylon string guitar or an electric guitar. The reason is that the strings have less tension and are easier to play without harming your fingers. myself I learned on a really cheap steal string guitar, even today, it is actually the hardest guitar I have ever played. That guitar completely calloused my finger tips because I played it every day for a year, till I finally upgraded. Now I don’t recommend you get a guitar that is tough to play, trust me if I had a choice I would rather the strings be easier to play. But when your guitar isn’t perfect, you definitely value better guitars, regardless of the price. But if you’re an acoustic guitar fan especially if your on a budget I recommend that you learn guitar on a classical guitar, and many are pretty cheap.

So now you have your guitar, now you need to learn to play guitar. So, what is the ideal way to learn guitar? There are lots of options out there for the new guitarist. however, which one is the best? Well lets look at the options.

You can learn from a teacher.

If you learn from a private teacher it could be good because you have someone right there with you who is a professional and they can correct you when you mess up. However teachers can be very expensive and they are not always reliable.

You can learn to play guitar from a guide

Guitar guides are full of information, and can help you understand chord patterns very easily. Nevertheless books can not successfully teach certain techniques, especially if you need to hear the technique. However for theory, scales and chords books are superb.

You can learn by video

With video you can actually see whats going on and correct your techniques. However with videos you feel like you have to keep up with the teacher and your playing and willingness can suffer from this. Especially since its hard to follow tabs or notes when they keep moving…

You can learn to play online

Now If you have a computer this is surely the best choice. Learning online combines the best of all the previous options. And its usually less than the price of one or two private lessons. in addition some courses even have certain integrated software that will make learning feel like a video game and makes guitar easy. Free Guitar Lesson – Learning Scales

This free guitar lesson lets a little light on the subject of scales. Guitar players are always looking for ways to make their solo playing sound more interesting. Our audiences only keep coming back to our gigs if they feel that we have more to give them, so we need to be ahead of their expectations.

One of the ways we can do this is to add another scale or mode to our repertoire. Once we have a collection of techniques we can use when we do our solos, scales gives us more material that we can make our own with the way we play our hammer-ons, string skipping, note bending and our other lead guitar tricks.

A basic plan for learning scales is to be master of the minor pentatonic in its five shapes. This gives you two octaves you can use as your playground for your improvisation. It will take some time to really be able to move around the minor pentatonic scale without thinking too much, and after that, you have the rest of your life to acquire more scales, and then move onto some of the modes.

We all have our moments where we find a tune playing in our heads. With knowledge of at least one scale in all keys you can explore the melody using your scale patterns. Once you feel that your playing is beginning to sound predictable you can visit some of the free guitar lesson websites and learn some more licks or start work on say, the locrian mode.

When you are learning a new scale or mode, repetition is your friend. Play the scale up, then play it down with alternate picking. Over and over again. Start with a relaxed left hand, make sure only the tips of your fingers are pressing on the strings to get a clear sound. Have your fingers in position over the frets you are playing at, and assign one fret to a finger.

During the day, if you have the time you will probably be picking up your guitar and playing whatever you have been working on lately. Add a scale to this routine. So you are only playing for a few minutes each time but you might find that you are picking up the guitar ten, twenty or fifty times a day!

Also remember that you don’t have to start at the root note of the scale all the time. Experiment with playing the notes in a different order.
