well as far as i know( im new at this) but my teacher said it rlly depends on how u want the chord to sound by changing which strings ring.

My chord chord shows the G Major as :3 2 0 0 0 3
Some sites I go on to look for chords show diff placements of the fingers. Why is that?

yeah you are supposed to mute the x which normally just means touching it with your thumb without actually pressing it down
