I have trouble with the A chord, the 4th string is giving a buzz and it really hurts to press down hard, the sooner i get calluses the better

I favor the traditional A chord. I find it easier to switch to chords around it once you get the hang of it. It’s hard to play the traditional chord when first starting but it’ll get very simple soon after some practice.
