coasterfreak666 :

i started playing GH after playing guitar so this may be a little biased but i think everyone can agree that its definitely wrong to lable certain songs as guitar hero songs, unless the song was written for GH

And both GH and guitar are fine as i play both, they just should not be intertwined, the concept of trying to hit circles on a line at high speeds is a fun videogame and i would play it even if it werent guitar themed

”How to Play Guitar Hero Songs on Electric Guitar” WTF…guitar hero songs…freakin idiots there are no such things like guitar hero songs…fuck stupid games take a real guitar in your hands like this guy does…GH sucks

seblin :

@azaurus you’re right: the original is played in parallel fourths. BUT: you do realize that parallel fourths are just inverted powerchords? he’s playing the SAME NOTES, trying to make it easier for the kids. as lexo30 said: theoretically, this makes a difference but i don’t think the people who want “to play guitar hero on a real guitar” don’t care about this. he actually does simplifications like these for several songs. and i think ritchie blackmore would be OK with that :)

RideDatwave973 :

you dont NEED to learn smoke on the water.

lexo30 :

@azaurus You’re dead right. If you want to play it like Blackmore played it, it’s parallel fourths – in classical theory terms it’s a second inversion of the tonic chord but you leave out the mediant. The dominant should be lower than the root; Blackmore relied on Lord’s organ and Glover’s crunch bass to hold down the root.

ShadowBeatzz :

ifimlyinimbryan :

azaurus :

“It’s really simple, it’s two finger power chords”… Ritchie Blackmore would rape him…
It’s supposed to be played using parallel fourths, not power-chords.
