I just started playing, and he is right about the cost info.

I bought a “beginner” pack (guitar, small amp, tuner, lesson dvd, gig bag, picks, xtra strings, and cables) for $175. It’s a Starcaster by Fender (made in China for Fender). Friends of mine that already play have played it can’t believe how cheap it was for the quality. I will admit though that I have upgraded to a better amp. But the amp in the pack is perfect while you decide if this is something you would like to continue with.

Don’t play on a steel string acoustic? Fuck that. If you aren’t a weakling you should be able to withstand the pain and build calluses in only a couple days. Or maybe my hands were crafted specially by god to play guitar, I don’t know but I really doubt that.

More importantly than what you play is that you actually play.

Aaaah~ Yeah, I should just pick up guitar first then. I’ll try it Namasensei-style xD However, I was one of those “tried-acoustic-once-but-gave-up” cases, but after seeing these videos, it should be easier. ^_^

Bass is a MUCH easier instrument to learn compared to guitar. But I recommend you bite the bullet and just learn guitar. It’s the more useful instrument, and if you learn it, you can pretty much play bass. Not the same way if you start with bass I’m afraid. I’ve had to practice like fuck to play guitar, and I’m still not very good

Is it easier to start out on bass then try guitar? I’ve been told that it is by three people, but I dunno if I should believe it. xD
